Cape Tribulation is the only place on our amazing planet that boasts two World Heritage Listed gems, side by side in perfect synchronicity. The awe-inspiring Great Barrier Reef and the evergreen rainforests of the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation will feed your mind and soul. You can restore, relax, refresh and revitalise in the pristine waters of the Coral Sea, explore the crystal clear creeks and pools scattered all over this exquisite wilderness and be mesmerised by the rainforest, fringed with delightfully white sandy beaches. It’s an absolute feast for the senses!

The amazing Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the seven natural wonders of the world and – as you would expect –full of unimaginable marvels. The natural eco-systems both in and around this spectacular area will leave you begging for more. Apart from the unique coral systems, meandering in and out of the water will enable you to come up close and personal with the local whale, dolphin and dugong communities. Lovable and often curious little critters are all here for you to get to know on your well-deserved holiday.

Daintree delights

The Daintree Rainforest is the world’s oldest surviving rainforest, and here, you will experience and thoroughly enjoy immersing yourself in this remarkable wilderness. Be amazed at the bizarre examples of flora and fauna that have survived and thrived over millions of years. Covered with luscious emerald green rainforest vegetation, Giant Kauri Pines and King Ferns will dwarf you as you lazily wonder round and take in all the wondrous sights and sounds.

Underwater adventures

What a perfect time and place to cross a few things off your bucket list. Why not take the plunge and learn how to dive or snorkel in a relaxed and safe environment with extremely dedicated professionals helping you along the way. Take as long as you like, mingling with sea turtles or be awestruck by all the beautifully coloured corals and reef systems. Even Minke Whales at certain times of the year will join in the fun. The pristine, crystal clear waters allow you to easily search and explore, drift, float or play.

Land adventures

Stroll through the Daintree Rainforest with all its ancient magnificence and spectacle. You’ll be thrilled meeting all the local wildlife, but be sure to keep your eyes open for the tree kangaroos, tree snakes, estuarine crocodiles, colourful birds, striped possums and the elusive cassowary. Want perfect peace and quiet? Walk, Kayak or trot along Cape Tribulation’s pristine shoreline – at any time of day or night – and enjoy the soul rejuvenating solitude. Don’t forget your camera!

How about a bit of culture?

Art galleries exhibiting and selling arts and crafts made by the local indigenous people are well worth a look. You will acquire a fascinating insight into how and why these paintings and artefacts were so important to our earliest original inhabitants. With authentic artefacts and traditional dot paintings, both large and small, you can – without a doubt – take a piece of Cape Tribulation home with you.

Up, up and away

If you think this area is spectacular when you are looking at it from a ‘wingless’ perspective, just imagine seeing it from a birds eye view! From way up high, you will bask in – and be inspired by – the panoramic scenery below you. If your schedule permits, book your flight at dusk or dawn as the colours in the sky at these times are simply breathtaking. Enjoy this experience by helicopter, joy flights or hot air balloon.

Guided day tours

It’s wonderful to let someone else do the driving and the organising of your agenda. Even if it’s only for one day, you can then just kick back and relax. The Daintree River Cruise (as part of our Cape Tribulation, Daintree & Mossman tour) is a perfect example, taking in a river cruise, lunch and afternoon tea in panoramic surroundings. Also visiting Alexandra Lookout, Mossman Gorge plus guided walking tours, it’s guaranteed to be a jam-packed and fun filled day. With pick up and drop off at your accommodation available.

The very informative guided Daintree Walkabout starts with a 600-metre leisurely walk through Mossman Gorge. At Mossman, see the towns’ highlights, including Heritage Listed buildings. Enjoy lunch at the Silky Oaks lodge, then off you go on your Daintree River Cruise. Before returning home, there’s a quick trip to Port Douglas.

Surfing, the rainforest way

Rainforest or Jungle surfing is not for the feint hearted. Having said that, it is a completely safe and exhilarating experience. The course consists of five zip lines (think of a super dooper flying fox) and –after you are safely strapped in – you can fly effortlessly from one of six tree canopy platforms. You are going to laugh hysterically, scream like a girl and have the absolute time of your life. Try out the giant sized hamster wheel, its lots and lots of fun.

Food glorious food

The Whet café and Cinema – with its relaxed atmosphere, exquisite food and friendly country style hospitality – is not to be missed. This magnificent café is set right in the middle of the Cape Tribulation rainforest and the café includes a huge room upstairs that allows you to kick back, relax and view some of the latest movies. Take advantage of this either before or after dining on your sumptuous meal. Take your togs and have a relaxing paddle in their outdoor pool.

Freebies

Just because you are on holiday, doesn’t mean you need to break the budget! To have an absolutely marvellous, fun-filled holiday, a little research and an adventurous spirit can help you enjoy many nature trails that will suit either the novice or experienced walkers, both day and night. You can pack a picnic breakfast, lunch or dinner and watch glorious sunrises and sunsets on Cape Tribulation beach. Perfect!
